Welcome to our website. In accordance with the aims of our founders, The Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion seeks to promote the practice and development of the Language, Literature, Arts and Sciences of Wales.
In the past, the Society played a significant part in the establishment of such institutions as the The National Eisteddfod, the University of Wales, the National Library and the National Museum. Today, the Society continues to make an important contribution to political and cultural discourse in Wales. We also support the recognition of the Welsh language in contemporary society and, through the award of a Medal, we provide formal acknowledgement of the contribution of those who have given distinguished service to Wales.
